snack time

the weekdays have been sunny and warm and the weekends drizzly and cool. today felt a little like a fall sunday and that combined with miles davis put me in the mood to cook. i turned on KBOO and made super healthy food for the week, including roasted red pepper hummus, vegetable frittata, veggies, and grapefruit segments for yogurt!

cherry!

stopped at rainbow grocer today and a woman ahead of me stopped the check out line to get one last minute item, a cherry fruit full. her enthusiasm was contagious and i brought one home too. i am hooked! they are full of whole sour cherries and goodness. i thought it would be nice to share and that it would be really awesome to make a flip book of devouring one. then i realized that it should be edited but can you see the whole cherries glistening?! delicious treat on a 70 degree day in the city.

seven types of ambiguity & oakland

I stayed in Oakland for the weekend and it was fabulous. a little mini vacation even though i my friend had to write a thesis due. less than a block from lake merit and just a few from whole foods and the farmers market and a big patio that we sprawled across me reading seven types of ambiguity and staring at the piles of history books that served as a reminder that i set my own deadlines and get to read for pleasure. oh how sweet. cookies from arizmendi and organic dates from the farmers market, sleeping in until 10 after falling asleep to a hitchcock classic. books create memories and bring up memories from the past but like a scent they often create their own as i will always connect this book to that weekend, and the moment i found discovered this staff pick at powells in pdx...completely soaked and dripping wet of course.

field trip...for adults

so we went to the nightlife, the california academy of science opens the doors to 21+ with a dj, drinks and the amazing world of science without fighting kids for a good view. this was perhaps the closest i have come to a "singles night". we had fun and saw moon jellyfish and vag/weenus sea life and the most precious woman that let us shake hands with the starfish and sea urchins.
p.s. i was really pretty tipsy in the pic above and down at the aquarium level it was so hot from all of the body heat that i decided to put my hat on to contain the frizz. billy, thanks for encouraging me to be super juvenile and take a pic of the x rated sea life.
