sweet things

Thursday, June 18

a sea of green and blue.

i over slept a bit and started driving around six am, still dodged most of the rush hour traffic until i got closer to portland. once here i headed off the highway and straight downtown to see my friend ashley where i was passed an invite to see Paleo, a musician from NY. Hopped over to see Doris for a gin and tonic on the porch and then off to knit night for a short stint. then i was back downtown for the intimate show with a few local openers and then paleo, reminiscent of bob dylan and nick drake. an evening with good friends and good music can't be beat. curled into bed so eager for sleep and slept so sound dreaming of blues and greens, rainy nights an drifting clouds.
it's good to be back.

a lovely day

the sun was shining and i met up with allie for lunch instead of brunch. she made a beautiful salad. we sat in the sun with coffee and wine in hand. had a little bit of show and tell mixed in with conversation which meant getting the story behind the tumbleweed and these awesome little bits. can you guess what they are?
p.s. i am homesick for pdx but i already miss the bay. and that's why you have ot love where you are at.

bits of inspiration

found lots of little inspiration this week but haven't touched pen to paper yet.
dandelion puffs, prehistoric green growth and stunning wood/lino cuts by celia bitwell and stanley donwood.

east bay sunday

oh sweet jesus i am finally caught up on sleep. spent most of the day at the park with new and old friends watching local bands perform at the park. had a simple dinner of bread, bucheron, cured meats and salad greens for dinner. what a fine day with loads of fresh air, rest, and good company. p.s. congrats to REL(in a borrowed flamingo hat) a good friend from pdx, recently moved to oak, as she placed 3rd in the santa cruz bike race on saturday.

out and about

went into sf pretty early to catch some student work at eco fest, held at the civic center which turned into hippie central. walked up hayes and then down fillmore to the union street festival which i soon realized was a mix between spring break and a frat party. after perusing the well meaning art vendors wares i made the ambitious trek up gough street back to bart. it's easy to criss cross this town on foot

a toast to tosca

friday.
traveled across town to the mission.
saw allie for a sec
grilled veggie burrito at papalote
check in on the car repair
met chris at tartine for coffee and a treat
ambled over to opera at the ballpark
the seagulls came in when the music went high, circling and then when the tone receded they would return back to the sea, in and out like the tide

beyond your wildest dream

i use to watch planet of the apes on t.v. and it's about time i revisit this again. oh, yeah.

sad little car

my car was one of four hit by a six wheel moving truck last friday. finally got the thumbs up from the other parties insurance today and my little car was towed to the city for repairs. need new tires, scratches buffed with a new coat of paint and not sure what else. they said it may take three to four weeks...not sure if or how this will affect my summer plans.

ice cream, stickers, and the museum.

alright, another boy, another date and this one was fun. i was out of school early and he played hooky so we met in the marina. walked along the water and into the ferry building for gelato and then off to cool of a little more in the asian art museum for a few hours of frolicking. amazing. i could have spent a few days in there getting lost in the fine carvings, history, and

boats

need to sketch a lot more. i have been waling down to the water a lot more lately to clear my head, get a little fresh air, sun on my nose, loose myself in the headland hills, watch the fog race the clouds, and hear the trolleys faint chime in the distance. i love being this close to the ocean and i miss it terribly now when i am away.

back in the saddle again, yee-haw

alright, i saw this book cover and breathed a sigh of relief knowing that i did not need to buy, borrow, skim, or peruse this one at all as i am in a place where i am doing this and learning first hand that while i do not want to date forever it can be fun and done without tears. not sure if it's spring fever or what but i have never been asked at much i have the past few weeks. for times when i do not feel like being persued i have my fab new bling. the kids love it.

bbq

made a little fruit salad with grated ginger and orange juice. had me reminiscing about pdx.
