snug

went on a long walk by the bay and found this cute little foot on the sidewalk. received a package from my mom with cozy house shoes and a super cuddly blanket, i used them back in the chilly midwest.

the bridge that crept into so many books of my youth

to and fro

still on the cleanse and inspired to hike to the bridge and up and over. these are the pics to the golden gate bridge and coming back.

origami tuesday

taking a break from long term projects and freeing up time for origami on our short day again. they love it and it challenges all of us. this week they went tiny.

more free art

met a friend after school for a coconut mani pedi in a part of the city that i am not in that often. stumbled upon this adorable stencil and it only further sent my daydreams of living abroad into overdrive. not sure if the sculpture is permanent but i love the use of supplies and otherwise desolate sad vacant lot.

city hike

by a friends house on the outskirts of the city. amazing views of the city and surrounding area, trekked through eucalyptus forests and found this rad little theater and a foot path maze. discovered this inspiring beautiful mural on the back of a school as we came back into civilization again.

more cleaning

after hitting the reset button and hearing about the benefits of the master cleanse(lemon juice, cayenne, maple syrup and water) from a nutritionist, i decided to do it again. fruits and veggies for a week and then started the cleanse i have gone 14 before but ending at the usual 10 this time. i think my body will be as free of toxins as it can possibly be when i end on monday. i always have loads of energy during the cleanse and a strong urge to be active outside. i have been on a few long hikes this week after school and the weekends too. always going for a balance.

i heart homemade marshmallows

i think i like making them more than eating them. after yesterdays detox time i am preparing for a long cleanse and thought it would be best to make a few treats for those around me before i commit to a few weeks without solid food. go figure, i made one of the last things i want to put into my system, sugar in every form. but they are so cute and full of joy.

reset

with this 3 day weekend, thanks to MLK, i experienced my first colonic. this was a very, ahem... eye opening experience, even for someone like myself that has gone through various cleanses in the past. it was a soggy day so i decided to make some vegetable soup and watch the rain. this whole day felt like a typical rainy nw day with stereotypical california activities, ha.

super long hikes

...have become a regular pastime. i took my old cell phone along(just got a new iPhone) for one last hike and snapped these shots of the amazing occasional palm tree with a glowing crown, lush grasses that have are climbing taller than me, and the throngs of surfers braving the waves and then resting near the shore.

Classic California...

Stopped at a red light when I spotted this absolutely classic old school... old money woman, a la California style. Note the trimmed hat, red gloss and little princess dog. The best part was when she peeled out in her shiny white jaguar and raced at about 50mph in a 30.

at a little bookstore in the mission

On December 7th 2009, government officials arrested Majid Tavakoli, an outspoken university student in Iran. Soon after, a photo of him was published, showing Majid wearing a woman covering. The officials circulated a rumor that Majid was arrested while he was trying to escape by disguising himself as a woman.

In response to his arrest and in protest of mandatory woman covering in Iran, Iranian men around the world have taken action:
For the first time in their history the men are covering themselves in Hijab, and publishing their photos online.

Theses photos are accumulating everyday; one website has reached 587 photos by Dec 14.

For the following month this window display becomes a mirror portraying some of the images that are accumulating online. link
