and a rothko too

wow! well the rest of the museum was pretty desolate, a virtual ghost town in comparison to the kahlo show.
almost wept at the rothko and the rivera flower pickers.
the strung cables above reminded me of a huge jellyfish

s&m saturday

.

sonoma and marin county day trip.
visited little farmers markets and enjoyed the abundance of summer. lots and lots of grapes, go figure. some day soon i will be digging in the dirt again. until then thank to all the farmers that feed us well

wearable art

alright old restructured ben davis skirt (salvage from old jeans), crisp white button down shirt and tank, black flip flops, new ray bans and my bag have become my uniform for the weekend. but oh for a few minutes i wore the amazing oscar de la renta dress that i was drooling over a few years back. it is breathtaking! this was too big and $3000 off the original price if that tells you anything. so i did not take home the dress but i have a few dressing room pics. fashion can be such an elite and pretentious hobbie but it is still art and i love it

odd night, not bad just odd

kinda felt like i was out in the world but at the goodwill at the same time. went out with a friends friend and some of his soccer buddies after they weaned each other off of the 1000 goals dvd that was playing when we arrived. he had these acapulco tapestries. i like the little pink people faces. we passed this bear sitting on the trash bin that had a surreal quality. not like chucky but closer to  E.T. in the closet.

dirty, gritty and pretty

slow foods san fran

black gold

love the silhouettes
spinning chickens sorta made me feel at home and in the midwest in a strange way
i long for the day that a garden downtown is more the a temporary installation
how different would the city be with more vegetation, life and visible cycles, and dirt not just dirty but dirt
love the two ladies by the worm compost bins and my free magazine score (i really wanted them at the super mrkt. luckily i didn't indulge)courtesy of slow food vendors and a $6 gently used copy of the food lovers companion that i have wanted for a long time and wanted to move to cali first.
what luck

and off to the beach

i have felt a little tied to my computer lately as i scan in documents and complete cover letters, introduction letters, rework essay answers and read up on school mission statements as i apply for jobs. well my friends i am elated to say share that i applied for the last art teacher position in the bay area and headed off to ocean beach for the rest of the day for much needed rest and relaxation. and i left my computer and stress behind. woo hoo

tiny jelly

i love jellyfish. i tried to save this little jelly fish not much bigger than my thumb. the other one was bigger, if you put your finger tips together and make a circle with your arms that is about how big it is. i felt a little disoriented when i looked back to find the windmill, neon folding chairs and cement bank of graffiti. holland esque

lovely salt air

oh i just absolutely love the beach. my phone captured the surreal/serene quality that the ocean carries. oh and heavens to betsy i found this crumpled bill below my car door. i am taking it as a sign to relinquish any and all money woes. nice day at the beach indeed.

foley's on o'farrell on a tuesday

alright we did not stop for the $2.95 happy hour above, we actually missed it by 15 min so no extra large(?) margaritas for us. after work i cleaned up and met up with leslie for a drink downtown. she is in town for a few days and we went on a late night tour/bar crawl. it felt a little like the story of the 3 little bears. we are not picky but the first bar was too dirty, and the second bar was too clean and pricey. les thought the high priced wine menu was by the bottle but nope it was by the glass, yikes. and so our walking tour continued past china town, street musicians, countless french tourists, and around union square until we landed at foley's irish pub. it was super nice to catch up and gossip with cider in hand. it just proves you can't go wrong with an irish pub even downtown on a tuesday night.

i miss my "little" friends

these are old pictures, well a few months old but not the post date. they may seem like old pictures if you think of how fast kids grow. why mr. dylan was just rappin' to me on the phone earlier today. that is a new skill, a mad skill.

who can i sneak sugar to now

laughing, playing in the dirt, finding frogs, climbing trees, eating rice crispy treats for dinner and napping in the hammock with three little ones begging to join me. how could i not miss that
